The Fairy Shop is actively involved in supporting and developing the business skills of the people who make our clothes in a small cut, make and trim enterprise run by Patricia Redlinghuis, affectionately known as aunty Pat. Patricia lives in Ocean View and has a background in lingerie. She has been sewing for the Fairy Shop brand since 1999. She is also actively involved in training young women in her community as seamstreses, who otherwise would have no skills or opportunities. We have recently helped Patricia develop and start creating clothing items under her own label, Catz. During lockdown she has been making colourful children’s masks which she sells in the Ocean View community for a nominal amount. The Fairy Shop also stocks her masks in our retail outlet. We are looking forward to stocking fairy tutus from her in the future – empowering lives one tutu at a time.
